You can keep track of what you’ve recently played, “favorite” songs, add friends, find custom-built playlists or choose a radio station based on an artist, a genre or even your mood.
When I checked out Spotify, I saw a big selection of well-recognized artists and songs as well as independent musicians. In addition to music, Spotify offers podcasts, charts and playlists of its most-played songs and information on local upcoming concerts.
Unfortunately, Spotify isn’t available in a regular web browser. Instead, you’ll have to visit the site and download the Spotify software or download the Spotify app. You’ll also have to create a free account in order to access any of Spotify’s features. Still, this whole process is free, simple and relatively fast.

YouTube is usually the first resource I check if I’m looking for free music online. Most artists and companies upload the newest music tracks and videos to YouTube, and tons of independent streamers have uploaded free music over the years. Now, you can just enter a song title, artist name or keyword to find what you’re looking for.
In addition to specific songs that you may be looking for, YouTube is also full of playlists and internet radio stations. I like to search for “lo-fi music” and listen to a live stream for background noise. In addition to streaming and radio, some songs are available to
download from YouTube
.
